More fly tying-

As you all know I am pretty new to this and I am still working on making them. I'll let you know if my brother ever gets any fish with them.

I also have chickens so of course I started asking around which chickens are best to make them with. I finally found the answer at a hatchery. They say, "The males of the following breeds provide the best feathers: Plymouth Rock, Blue Andalusian, Buff Minorca, and Silver Penciled Wyandotte (Bantams tend to produce more of the small and fine feathers prized for dry fly tying.)"

Other things I have learned the( in general) hens will give you feathers that are better for dry fly tying and the boys will give you better feathers for wet tying..

Fly tying the way I understand it:

Dry= staying on top more

Wet= sinking

Ok, so the way I logged this information into my head is that girls are generally lighter then boys so their feathers will FLOAT more and stay DRY. The boys are heavier and so their feathers will SINK and get WET!

Sewing-

I am making a few aprons up out of blue jeans and some lace. I seen them done at Collinsville and thought they were too cute so I am giving it a try. I'll post more photos later on.

Wild foods- I am still finding new foods at our home.
